Some Bibb County public schools will reopen Wednesday, but many will
remain closed because of storm damage.
Superintendent Sharon Patterson announced Tuesday that Westside High
School would remain closed for the remainder of the school year because of
extensive damage caused by Sunday morning's tornado. Because of that,
students from Westside will alternate school days with students at Rutland
High until the end of the year.
These Bibb Schools situation for Wednesday breaks down like this:
- Central High School Zone :
Central High, Miller Middle, Alexander II, Burke, Vineville, Williams
and Taylor - all open for classes
- Northeast High School Zone : Northeast High,
Appling Middle, Bernd, Burdell-Hunt, Jones and King-Danforth.- all
open for classes
- Rutland High School Zone : Rutland High,
Rutland Middle, Bruce, Heard, Porter and Skyview - all open for
classes
- Westside High School Zone : Howard Middle,
Brookdale, Carter, Lane and Springdale. Weaver Middle, Heritage and
Riley - all open for classes NOTE : Westside High School, Union
and Morgan will NOT be open for students on Wednesday; all
staff will report to their assigned site at 8:00am.
- Southwest High School Zone : Harley Elementary
School is the only school that will be open for students on Wednesday.
NOTE : Southwest High, Ballard-Hudson Middle, Ingram Pye,
Bloomfield Middle, Barden, Burghard and Rice will NOT be open
for students on Wednesday; all staff will report to their assigned
site at 8:00am.
- Other Bibb County Schools : Hutching Career
Center and Elam Alexander will re-open Wednesday for students.
Renaissance/Teen Parent Center, Neel Academy and Butler will NOT
be open on Wednesday for students; all staff will report to their
assigned site at 8:00am.
