Georgia Power Rates Going Up Next Month

Georgia Power customers will begin seeing about a three dollar increase in their electric bills.

The Georgia Public Service Commission has approved a rate hike request from the utility company.

Georgia Power had requested 222-million dollars, but the PSC limited it to just under 215-million.  The increase is to allow Georgia Power to recover fuel costs associated with the high cost of fuel.

Georgia law allows utility companies to recover fuel costs, but they cannot make a profit on fuel costs.

The average residential bill will go up two-dollars-and-93-cents with this latest change.
