Tornado Debris Holding Sites Filling Fast

Truckloads of debris from the Mother's Day tornado are filling up six holding sites in Macon and Bibb County this week.

Multiple loads were being brought to the Key Street and Anthony Road location, one of the staging points in Macon for destroyed trees and branches that the city couldn't pick up.

Bibb County officials say they have made a dent in the cleanup with city and county workers picking up wood left at the curb.

In neighborhoods most affected by those storms, including Glen Echo near Lake Tobesofkee, piles of wood ten feet high and six feet thick remain.

Officials say the city sites, including around ten acres mostly on the south side, are almost full.
