Storm Damage Has Assessors Planning Expanding Revaluation

The Mother's Day storms and tornados that rocked Central Georgia is causing Macon-Bibb Tax Assessors to expand revaluation.

Chief Appraiser Jim Davis says he feels the assessors need to consider closer inspections of parcels due to the extensive damage done to properties by the storms. This would require on-site inspectors to do walk around to evaluate properties instead of just doing drive-by inspections without leaving their vehicles.

Tyler CLT Company, contracted by the city to do the appraisals, is being paid close to $2-million dollars to do the new revaluation. An estimate is expected sometime next week on the cost of additional work because of storm damage.
