| A veterans clinic in Houston County,
Ga., is 1 of 10 rural clinics Veterans Affairs will begin
operating by next August.
The VA says the clinic will provide primary and mental health
care and case management services. The clinics are intended to
boost availability of care that meets VA standards in areas far
from larger VA hospitals.
All of the clinics should be open by 2009. One in Aroostook
County, Maine already is operating. Others to open next month are
in LaGrange, Tex.; Juneau County, Alaska; and Wasco County, Ore.
Those to be operating by August of next year are in Winnemucca,
Nev.; Yreka, Calif.; La Grange, Texas; Montezuma Creek, Utah;
Manistique, Mich.; and Utuado, Puerto Rico.
