County School Superintendent Sharon Patterson announced Monday
that 12 additional schools made
A-Y-P or Adequate Yearly Progress based on preliminary results of
summer school re-testing.
In
the first test round in the federal “No Student Left Behind”
law, 26 of the 41 Bibb schools did not make A-Y-P. Monday
Patterson said 25 Bibb schools have now made the grade.
Patterson said that means that over 6,500
students will now be attending schools that made A-Y-P. The
schools that how now also achieved A-Y-P include Barden, Brookdale,
Burghard, Burke, King-Danforth, Riley, Taylor, Union and Williams
elementary schools and Miller, Howard and Weaver middle schools.
