| Prosecutors and defense attorneys plan
to deliver opening arguments Monday in the Atlanta trial of
alleged courthouse gunman Brian Nichols. He's accused of killing
four people in a 2005 rampage that started in downtown Atlanta.
Brian Nichols has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, and
his lawyers say he couldn't tell "right from wrong"
during the killings.
Even Nichols' defense team has conceded that on March 11, 2005,
he killed a judge, court reporter and sheriff's deputy at the
Fulton County Courthouse, and a federal agent later that day.
Judge James Bodiford has vowed to keep the case on track and
rebuffed attempts by Nichols' attorneys to delay the case further.
A jury of 8 women and four men was chosen last week.
The trial could last for months.
