Macon Woman Shot In Carjacking Attempt

The Macon Police Department is investigating an attempted carjacking, which resulted in a person being wounded by a gunshot.

32-year old Romi Jefferson of Macon was stopped at the intersection of Mead Rd. and Broadway, when she noticed two black males over on the side of the road. She at first thought they were going to cross the road, but realized they had guns and were approaching her vehicle. She pressed the gas pedal and went through the intersection to leave the area, but the suspects fired at her vehicle.

Jefferson suffered a non-life threatening injury to her left leg. As she was on her cell phone calling 911, she came up on an Officer at the intersection of Broadway and Eisenhower Pkwy.  She was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment.

The suspects are described as being black males, dressed in black or dark clothing, and had something black covering their faces. They are both believed to be armed with handguns.
