| Governor Sonny Perdue
has written the White House, asking President Bush to direct the
Energy Department to release a "significant amount of crude
oil" from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Gas shortages have plagued Atlanta and
other southeastern states since Hurricanes Gustav and Ike
disrupted refinery production along the Gulf Coast.
Perdue says a surge in crude from the Petroleum
Reserve would bridge the gap until full production resumes.
