Phoebe Bridgers took a more collaborative route while making Lost Weekend, bringing longtime musical partners together with several new creative voices. Speaking about the album’s development, members of the recording team described a process built around experimentation, unfinished ideas, and songs that changed shape as more people became involved.
Collaborators including Tony Berg, Ethan Gruska, Christian Lee Hutson and Marshall Vore remained part of Bridgers’ familiar circle, while Jack Antonoff and Alex G added different perspectives to the sessions. Those involved in the project said some tracks grew from voice memos, loose melodies and spontaneous studio ideas rather than fully formed demos.
The sessions also arrived during a period when Bridgers was dealing with writer’s block. Working with other musicians helped move several songs forward and encouraged new production choices, including sampling and unconventional arrangements.
Lost Weekend ultimately reflects a wider creative network around Bridgers while keeping the personal songwriting and restrained emotional tone that have defined much of her solo work.
