Michelle Branch has revealed that Olivia Rodrigo was the first artist she hoped would join her on a new version of The Game of Love. The updated recording is part of Branch’s upcoming EP, Everywhere and Back Again, which celebrates 25 years of her music with fresh takes on some of her best-known songs.
While the collaboration with Rodrigo never happened, Branch said the project took a different direction when Gregg Alexander became involved. Alexander, who wrote and produced the original 2002 hit, ended up recording the new version with Branch after the two realized their voices worked well together.
The EP brings together new recordings of songs that helped define Branch’s career, giving longtime fans a chance to hear them from a fresh perspective. Alongside the updated version of The Game of Love, the release includes several other reimagined tracks from her catalog.
Everywhere and Back Again is scheduled to arrive on November 6, 2026.
